December Improv Recordings with Andy
Your mission: sit down and play something cool! Now.
Andy crossed the ocean blue to spend a few days in Shreveport over the holiday, helpfully arriving with a pocket-sized mp3 recorder in his pocket. What to do? Press record, grab some instruments and — presto shazam — let the music fall about like so much weird rain on the tin roof (rusted). Improv, baby!
A bit of aural excavation on the hour or so of resulting files uncovered several nearly-songs born of our musical meanderings. At some point, I'll be going through and editing, cleaning them etc.
UPDATE: this material has evolved into a cd release, Bukka's Bad Trip

"Notes from the Journey" and "Sliding Earth Panel" represent the first time I've recorded stuff using my infamous oil can electric guitar, AKA the Afri-can — the ambient recording style turned out a nice mix of the guitar's acoustic and electric sounds. Andy, for his parts, bellowed and beat exclusively upon my wee Baby Taylor acoustic. The other acoustic instrument heard on the first track is one of my dulcimers.
I'm particularly fond of "Interior Sun," which is as interesting as anything Andy and I have ever recorded, rehearsed or no.
